Community Workshops
The Foundation offers free community education workshops designed to help individuals and families plan with clarity, confidence, and care. Across four sessions, we move thoughtfully from intention to responsibility, from coordination to consequence. Each workshop can be attended on its own, and many participants return more than once as their lives evolve.
We begin with the structure of a will, then explore the lived responsibilities of executors and powers of attorney. From there, we consider how legacy can reflect personal values beyond the will itself, and conclude with a practical Northern reality: understanding capital gains on a home or camp after the loss of a partner.
Together, the sessions form a complete and accessible planning arc. They are welcoming, grounded in plain language, and designed for real life. There is time for questions, reflection, and practical next steps. No prior knowledge is required.
This session explores how a will gives structure to personal intention. We walk through its core components, clarify how decisions are expressed in legal form, and explain when trusts, guardianship, and charitable gifts are commonly included.
This session examines who acts when you cannot. We clarify the distinct roles of executors and attorneys, outline their responsibilities, and explore how clear planning and organization reduce confusion, conflict, and burden during incapacity and after death.
This session explores how personal values can shape lasting impact. We review common ways charitable gifts are structured, explain how they fit within broader estate plans, and discuss how thoughtful coordination can reflect both family priorities and community commitment.
This session examines the financial consequences that can arise when property changes hands at death. We explain principal residence rules, capital gains on secondary property, and practical planning considerations for families facing decisions about a home or camp.
