Hospice Rennovations Complete

(Thunder Bay, ON) St. Joseph’s Care Group is pleased to announce that the 10-bed renovationin the Hospice Palliative Care Programat St. Joseph’s Hospital is now complete and ready for our clients’ use.

The vision for this project was initiated by Karin Sitko and Clint Harris who have had personal experience with the exceptional care provided in Hospice. They felt it was time for the environment to be improved to match the level of care.St. Joseph’s Foundation conducted the Campaign for St. Joseph’s Hospice Palliative Care and raised over $750,000 to renovate client rooms.

Dr. Geoff Davis, Chief of Staff, Medical Director, Hospice Palliative Care, St. Joseph’s Care Group, says “It is very rewarding to see these rooms completed. I feel we are accomplishing our goal of ‘Adding Life to Days’ for our clients, their families and friends by delivering high quality careand support, in an environment that is now equal to the care.”

Ten client rooms in the Hospice Palliative Care Program have been renovated. The retrofit of the rooms includes a guest/family day bed, a room refrigerator and a complete retrofit of ceilings, lighting, night tables, accessories and window coverings. A newly revampedheating source will also improve environmental and air quality and control.

A special donor art piecehas been created by a local artist to provide recognitionto thosewho made the renovations possible.Anunveiling ceremony for the donor recognition wall will be held in November.
